چکیده

In the present study, friction damper, an energy dissipating passive device is explored to reduce response of open ground storey building under lateral loading due earthquake. This damper installed in selected bays so that reduced. The masonry infill wall macro-modeled form compression only diagonal members. Three different types bracing system were along with Pall – single tension brace cross and chevron modeled using Wen’s plastic link element SAP2000. G+4 buildings analyzed nonlinear time history analysis. displacement inter-storey drift for all cases compared study.

Parallel Finite Element Modeling of Earthquake Ground Response and Liquefaction

Parallel computing is a promising approach to alleviate the computational demand in conducting largescale finite element analyses. This paper presents a numerical modeling approach for earthquake ground response and liquefaction using the parallel nonlinear finite element program, ParCYCLIC, which is designed for distributed-memory message-passing parallel computer systems. In ParCYCLIC, finite...

Control of Structural Response Under Earthquake Excitation

This study firstly proposes some representative simple methods to obtain the suboptimal passive damping and stiffness parameters from the optimal control gain matrix since it is not possible to add the exact optimal damping and stiffness parameters to the structure in practice. It is shown numerically that modifying the structural damping and the stiffness in the proposed suboptimal ways may su...

On Earthquake Ground Motion and Structural Response inAlluvial

This paper is concerned with the problem of soil ampliication and structural damage due to local site conditions in sedimentary valleys during earthquakes. It focuses on a small valley in Kirovakan, for which one dimensional (1D) wave propagation analyses have failed to provide adequate answers for the large extent and spatial distribution of damage during the 1988 Armenia Earthquake. A more re...
